The fastest way to tell your life story
Preserve your life story in weeks
When I meet people and tell them why I started Life and Times Video, most say “what a great idea”. Then they either say “I wish I had captured my parents life stories when I had the chance”, or “I’d love to pass my family history and stories to my children”.
But not having the time is the main reason people give for not getting around to capture their stories in time.
So why people don’t preserve their stories?
Here is a summary of the main excuses people give me on what holds them back from telling their tales.
- I DON’T HAVE THE TIME
- I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START
- I’M NOT GOOD AT WRITING
- WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN MY STORY?
- I’VE ALREADY DONE MY FAMILY TREE
Capture your story through video
Not having the time, or any of these excuses, is no longer a valid reason not to preserve your story, as you can preserve your life story on video within weeks.
Not only is video the fastest way to preserve your story. But it is also by the most compelling.
No medium has more impact than motion film – enabling stories to be told in a compelling way with creative and entertaining vision. Words cannot convey what a video can.
Film not only enables you to capture your loved ones’ stories, but also their voices, smiles, laughs and gestures.
Video is the latest and most popular technology and is predicted to be in the future. Most people commonly watch videos through a variety of devices, including their TVs, phones, computers and iPads.
With today’s technology options, creating a video history that preserves your loved one’s life stories can be a fun and easy task.
You can try it yourself using an iphone or an ipad. But the fastest and easiest way is to engage a professional videographer, like Life and Times Video.
Should I write or video my life story?
Writing your own life story or family history is an option. But this process takes a long time, particularly if you are not an experienced writer.
You can engage a professional autobiographer to interview you and write your story for you and record this information as a scripted interview, short articles, or even publish a book.
But for the cost and length of time to complete your story, making a video is more cost effective and compelling.

Why preserving your life story is so important!
YOUR LIFE STORY PROTECTS YOUR MEMORIES
Just as photographs fade over time, your memories can, too. As you get older, your health may impact your ability to document your past.
YOUR LIFE STORY BENEFITS OTHERS
You probably do not realise it, but people closest to you are genuinely interested in learning about your past. And future generations will benefit from the details and experiences shared in your life story.
YOUR LIFE STORY DEFINES YOUR LEGACY
How do you want to be remembered? Will you become a forgotten face in an old photograph? Or do you want to take action now to preserve your beliefs, values and wisdom?
